Johnny Jetset's Mini Cruise Diary

John Frankitti from our Haddington Branch tries the Superfast experience for himself.

My latest globetrotting exploits gave me the opportunity to sample the delights of a Mini Cruise Break using the Superfast ferry service from Rosyth to Zeebrugge in Belgium.

Superfast Ferry

Getting to Rosyth was really easy compared with the arduous drive South to
catch the other ferry services to the continent.

Once at the ferry terminal I simply parked my car in the
car park & made my way to the ferry terminal to check in. After completing passport formalities it was on to the ship and up to the reception desk to collect the keys for my outside cabin. My first impression was excellent;
the cabin had twin beds with private shower & wc - perfect for my overnight crossing.

Once we left the Forth I had a good look around the ship and was amazed at the range of facilities on board. There are a choice of six restaurants and bars: the A La Carte Restaurant, Buffet Restaurant, Snack Bar, Forward Bar/Lounge, Restaurant Bar and Disco Bar/Lounge.

I dined in the buffet restaurant which if pre booked along with breakfast as a package is cheaper, the food quality was excellent, it was a most pleasant place to spend a couple of hours. After my meal I went in to the lounge bar for a couple of drinks before heading to bed for a comfortable night's sleep.

In the morning I awoke refreshed and made my way down to the restaurant for a delicious breakfast. What a great way to start the day! After breakfast I had a wander around the main deck and could see we were only about a half hour away from Zeebrugge.

Bruges
Once we had docked I took the inexpensive coach for the short journey to Bruges. This beautiful city is steeped in history. Many consider it the most beautiful medeival city in Europe. After spending a most memorable day exploring the town -including a canal cruise - it was back to Zeebrugge for the overnight sailing home to Scotland.
